With the Yellowstone Ranch behind him, Kayce Dutton joins an elite unit of U.S. Marshals, combining his skills as a cowboy and Navy SEAL to bring range justice to Montana, where he and his teammates must balance family, duty and the high psychological cost that comes with serving as the last line of defense in the region's war on violence.

Silent 'Y': The show was originally titled Y: Marshals, with the 'Y' referencing Yellowstone and the franchise logo. However, just before the premiere, the 'Y' was dropped from the title. CBS jokingly said the 'Y' was always silent internally.
Filming Location Throwback: Production for Marshals began in Fall 2025 in Summit County, Utah. This is the same location where the first three seasons of Yellowstone were filmed before the production moved to Montana.
From Cable to Network: Marshals marks a significant shift for the Yellowstone franchise as the first series to debut on a linear network, CBS, rather than cable. Unlike Yellowstone, which was a serialized cable drama written entirely by Taylor Sheridan, Marshals is a law enforcement procedural on network TV with a standard writers room.
