A young woman’s passion forms the basis of this erotic Spanish drama adapted from a popular novel by Antonio Gala. The night before Desideria’s marriage, her girl friends give her some valuable advice on sex. The marriage takes place, and while it is generally happy, her husband Ramiro suffers from sexual dysfunction and Desideria is frustrated. The two end up on holiday in Istanbul with two friends. Desideria falls madly in love with the sensual ambiance of the ancient, teeming city. She begins a passionate affair with a handsome Turkish guide, Yaman. Upon her return home, she learns that she is pregnant. Ramiro agrees to support the child, but unfortunately it dies in infancy and the grieving Desideria flees for Istanbul to find her lover. She finds him and they renew their torrid affair. Later she learns some distressing things about Yaman, but this does not stop her from becoming his sexual slave and a call girl for wealthy carpet sellers.

The Merchant (Harvey Keitel) is a Westerner. A merchant dealing in precious stones from Afganistan and Turkey. He's above suspicion. In truth, the "Stone Merchant" is a Christian convert into Islam. She's married to Alceo, a professor at the Sapienza University, specialized in the history of terrorist movements. Alceo is on a wheel chair. He lost his legs in the attack to the American Embassy in Nairobi in 1998. Shahid is a terrorist. Now he's planning an attack along the English Channel. Their lives, their destinies cross in Turkey, where Leda and Alceo are on holiday. And the plot will go on to Rome and Turin till the epilogue of the attack on the ferry boat.

Aslı is a senior at the Fine Arts Faculty, majoring in painting. She borrows an antique, original book from a professor she greatly admires. That day, she loses her bag, which contains the book. However, she cannot remember where or how she lost her bag. Her closest friend, Nevin, a senior at the Faculty of Medicine, takes Aslı, who is becoming increasingly depressed as she tries to remember how she lost the book, to a psychiatrist. Psychiatrist Dr. Melih is a scientist with strict scientific ideas. As soon as he sees Aslı, he makes his diagnosis: Dissociative Amnesia. And he wants to apply the treatment that best responds to this diagnosis. Hypnosis... Aslı initially hesitates but eventually agrees to undergo hypnosis.
