One of the better known southern rock bands of the 1970s, The Outlaws enjoyed some moderate success with hits like "There Goes Another Love Song." Following in the tradition of practically every band who had a contract at that time, The Outlaws released an obligatory live album in 1978. Their harmonies, both vocal and guitar, held up pretty well on stage, as evidenced by the before mentioned "Love Song," and "Freeborn Man," as well as "I Hope You Don't Mind." "Hurry Sundown," another Outlaws classic gets an equally fine treatment. But of course, the real meat comes at the end of the show with "Green Grass and High Tides." Taking a cue from Lynyrd Skynyrd's "Free Bird," The Outlaws wrote an epic of their own. "Green Grass" starts as an up-tempo country croon, but it's not long before they let the hammer down.

The Allman Brothers Band were initially not happy with the first two releases, but they were able to fix the production mistakes only 40 years later. On April 29, a DVD will go on sale, followed by an audio recording of the famous concerts in New York 5 years ago. Then, on the Allman's favorite concert venue, the Beacon Theater, on March 26, 2009, they completely played the material of the debut (1969) and subsequent (1970) records, made under pressure from the producer in an undesirable sound for them. Now 15 tracks of the new DVD-CD-box are released in the form ... in which the public has known them for more than 40 years, but in the presentation of a completely different group (of the same name). 40: A very special number, and this DVD proves why the Allman Brothers Band is a special group indeed. On 19 March, 2009 Eric Clapton joined the Allman Brothers Band on stage at The Beacon Theatre in New York City for the first of two historic guest appearances. Other guests that evening were Susan Tedeschi and Danny Louis of Gov't Mule. This year marks the 20th Anniversary of Allman Brothers Band performances at the Beacon and the 40th Anniversary of their founding.

Rip-roaring rock ‘n roll. In 2005 The Black Crowes played a five night gig at The Fillmore in San Francisco. This appears to be a document of the one night they hooked up with the four-man Left Coast Horns (who apparently had only that afternoon to work out arrangements and rehearse with the band). Did they get it together? Fuckin’ A! You have to love a band that walks out on stage and opens up by kicking every ass in the house with a burner like “(Only) Half Way to Everywhere”.
