Lieutenant Balogh and Miska, his servant, are brought before Szergej Dragow. The Russian offers to take them on to serve him. Balogh says yes, only to attempt to escape later.

Solicitor Lukács is well known for his expertise in divorce. He lets a room and while he is away, Csahos, his articled clerk, in charge of business affairs in the absence of the solicitor, leaves almost all of the flat to Székely Klári, a pretty university student. Lukács, while driving his car to Siófok, accidentally bumps into his wife and their friend, Bognár Miklós. Misunderstanding the situation, he asks for a divorce.
