This film introduces us to Hugo, a one-of-a-kind animal who lives in a jungle. Youthful and carefree, Hugo is prone to playing practical jokes on his friends, Zig and Zag the monkeys. His idyllic lifestyle is interrupted when he is captured by CEO of a famed movie company, Conrad Cupmann, to be co-star in a Hollywood-style film. In order to return from Copenhagen to his jungle home, he must escape with the help of a newly found friend, Rita the fox.

The heir to the throne, Prince Piwi, has obtained some magazines from the Land of Humans and reads extensively about happiness. He decides to travel to the Land of Humans himself and bring back Happiness. However, the people he meets have very different ideas about what Happiness actually is. There are also a number of clever businesspeople who want to exploit Prince Piwi commercially, and soon gangsters and secret agents arrive too.

The mini beetle Mini appears in a flea circus together with Egon and Dagmar. The flea-girl Miranda bullies Mini and tricks him into interfering in Dagmar's line dancing, making her fall and sprain her foot. Deeply ashamed, Mini runs away and meets a gang of robbers. The brutal beetle, Basse, who orders Mini to break into the bees' honey stock, leads the gang. However, the bee-soldiers catch him, and he is sentenced to life-long hard labour. Meanwhile, Miranda regrets her bullying of Mini and together with Mini, who has managed to escape, and their brave friends, the ants, they succeed in recovering Egon's beloved racing bike, which has been stolen by the robbers.
