Echoes of a Lost Gaza (2024)
Mariam Shahin has been making films about Gaza for over thirty years. When she moved to Gaza in 2005, she felt a powerful sense of optimism following the Israeli withdrawal. But by 2009, war had badly damaged its infrastructure, neighbourhoods, businesses and communities – and that optimism had evaporated. Now, in the wake of the even more destructive war that began on 7th October 2023, Mariam seeks out the people she has met in Gaza over the years – and reflects on the wasted potential and devastated lives after sixteen years of blockade and a year of one of the most destructive wars in Middle East history.

Samidoun: The Steadfast Women of Palestine (2025)
Samidoun: The Steadfast Women of Palestine is a powerful short documentary spotlighting the resilience, strength, and agency of Palestinian women navigating life under occupation and patriarchal pressures. Through personal stories and lived experiences of Reema Abu Aita, Asma Nayfeh, Kefaya Khreim, Halimah Zawaideh, Diala Ayesh, Aya Al Turk, Sama Nejm and Sherine Zedan the film amplifies the voices of women who persist and resist—refusing to be silenced despite systemic violence and daily hardship. Their defiance, dignity, and determination serve as a testament to steadfastness in the face of injustice. The film was commissioned by Nobel Women’s Initiative and made by Mariam Shahin, Maysara Films.

The Seed Queen of Palestine (2018)
Inspired by memories of her grandmother and the delicious food of her childhood, Vivien Sansour wants to reintroduce long forgotten Palestinian produce to the tables of people across the West Bank and beyond. And she believes these organic, climate change-resistant seeds are the key to that. She experiments with growing the treasured seeds in her own garden beside the separation wall, under the watchful eye of Israeli soldiers. Popular local herbs and seasonal vegetables flourish as she tends to her garden with expert care and dreams of reviving and celebrating Palestinian food culture. But can she persuade farmers struggling with the pressures imposed by the Israeli occupation and agri-business to embrace such traditional crop-growing methods? To convince them of the value of the seeds, she sets up a travelling kitchen, taking her seeds and their produce on the road and reminding Palestinians of the power of food to capture the joy and beauty of home.

Donor Opium (2011)
For twenty years now the international donor community has financially supported Palestinian institution-building, infrastructure development, the economy, public employees' salaries, health and education, social welfare, the police, electricity production, private credit guarantees, and the bigger part of the civil society organizations with regards to democracy promotion, human rights, tolerance, women rights etc. Peace and the establishment of a Palestinian state have been the declared goals of all the support. But actual results are the fragmentation and pacification of the Palestinian people. This documentary film, directed by Mariam Shahin and George Azar, and funded by the Rosa Luxemburg Foundation, features Palestinian criticism of this externally funded "development".
