My Brothers and Sisters in the North (2016)
The Democratic People's Republic of Korea is a country with a very strong social cohesion and the unprecedented admiration of the people for their leader, which is absolutely unique and incomprehensible especially from a Western point of view. The native Korean director Sung-Hyung Cho tries to understand this by accompanying several Koreans from different backgrounds in their daily lives. The film shows the country and its people in a way, as it is rarely done in Western media, non-judgmental and respectful towards the people.

Verliebt, verlobt, verloren (2015)
In 1952, while the Korean War was still raging, the rulers of North Korea sent hand-picked students to other socialist countries to be trained there and later use their newly acquired knowledge to rebuild their destroyed homeland on their return. The majority of them ended up in the GDR, where they soon found their way around the German language and culture. During their stay, many of the North Korean students also met young women with whom they fell in love and with whom they eventually had children. But when the young men were ordered back to their homeland in the early 1960s, some of the newly formed families were left behind. The story of those left behind is told in "In love, engaged, lost".

Home from Home (2009)
About three women in search of a home return to South Korea after an absence of more than thirty years. In the 1970s, they left everything behind in order to go to Germany as "guest workers." Although assimilated in their new country, they long for the old one. Now they are able to realize their dream of returning with their German husbands to Dogil Maeul, the German village that has been created for people like them. Situated in a picturesque bay, the village is indeed more German than Germany--there is even whole meal bread and Frankfurter sausages. This is the new-old home to which their sixty something husbands Armin, Willi and Ludwig have come in the hope of spending their remaining years. However, there is still something missing for the three women as they discover it is not so easy to pick up where they left off.
