John Cranford is a U.S. customs agent dedicated to stem the activities of a gang of opium smugglers. After successfully closing the case, Cranford takes a vacation on Pidgin Island, near Kingston, Ontario. Here he meets the beautiful Diana Wynne, whose mysterious behavior both fascinates and attracts him. It turns out that Diana is herself a secret service agent, bent on trapping notorious pearl smuggler Michael Smeed.

Jess Wilson, a young and pretty school teacher of the "Golden West." is just leaving the little schoolhouse in which she teaches, when Joe Blackburn, a man with a "bad reputation," meets her and forces his attentions upon her, finally proposing marriage. Jess is insulted and orders him away. Blackburn, angry and vindictive, swears he will get her yet. A few nights later, Jim Brady, a cowboy, who is courting Jess, proposes marriage and is accepted. As Jim is slipping an engagement ring on Jess' finger, Blackburn appears and again makes his threat, saying, "You haven't got her yet and you never will." Young Deer, an Indian, and his squaw. Red Wing, are trying to sell some beadwork, when Blackburn, who has been drinking very hard and is in a fighting mood, attacks both of them. Jim Brady, seeing the plight of the Indians, comes to their aid and drives off Blackburn, who is now more determined than ever to get revenge.

The original film featured the then unknown Rudolph Valentino. To cash in on his rise to stardom, it was re-edited to feature more of him. Various shots were repeated several times; long shots were blown up into close-ups and inter-cut with other footage; some scenes were projected on a loop, so that Rudolph Valentino repeated the same motions several times over; one scene was used as a flashback; and out-takes from the original were inserted into the new film. In addition, the locale of the new picture was switched from World War 1 Germany to a desert island by the simple expedient of inserting shots of bathing beauties on a palm-fringed beach throughout the film.

After an argument with his father, in which he is accused of stealing, Bill Carmody leaves home. His girlfriend Ethel is mad at him because of his carousing. So he heads out West, but he gets in a railroad accident and saves the life of Appleton, who owns a lumber mill. To reward Bill, Appleton gives him a job, and it doesn't take him long to discern that Buck Moncrossen, the camp boss, is crooked.

Balshofer’s earlier feature—shot in 1918 as Over the Rhine and released in 1920 as An Adventuress—this version was issued to capitalize on Rudolph Valentino’s sudden stardom. The cut boosts Valentino’s presence through repeated/enlarged shots, looping and out-takes, and reframes the story in a tropical island setting; it’s widely regarded as a cash-in reissue.

Racing Romance is a 1927 Action film. According to a brief article in the St. Petersburg, FL Evening Independent newspaper, the film was centered in the world of automobile racing. The article also noted that racing sequences in the film were shot at the "world famous Culver City Race track," which referred to the Culver City Speedway, a popular racing venue that opened in mid-Jun 1924 and was located adjacent to Washington Blvd., close to M-G-M and other movie studios. Apparently it's a lost film.
