Director-actor Frankie Chan does multiple duty in the action comedy vehicle The Good, The Bad & The Beauty. Frankie Chan is Inspector Hor Sun Chun, a tough cop investigating a smuggling operation in which airline stewardess Ko Sau Ping (sultry Cherie Chung) is possibly involved. Realizing that she may be in danger, Sau Ping feigns amnesia, and uses Sun Chun's smitten partner Tang Tat Kit (Kent Cheng) as a possible smokescreen. Meanwhile there's action, and plenty of it! A seasoned director, actor, composer and action director, Frankie Chan uses his myriad talents to the nth degree as he combines gunplay, stunts, and laugh-a-minute hijinks in true Hong Kong Cinema action-comedy style!

Chen Chun (Max Mok) and San (Roy Cheung) are two low-level mainland gangsters who open their own gambling outfit. When Chen Chun winds up killing the owner of a rival parlor, he flees to Hong Kong where he soon falls in with a heroin-addicted hooker named Fang (Lee Suet Man). They inevitably fall in love, but soon their bliss is shattered with the news that Chen's gambling venture has been taken over by a notorious gangster called Bolo Guy (Jimmy Lung Fong) and his mainland girlfriend Melia (Jacqueline Ng) who has been killed. Chen goes back over the border looking to set things right.

Vice Squad 633 sends crack narcotic fighters Wong and Miss Chow to the slums to flush out the traffickers. They catch Spareribs, a minibus driver who has become an addict because he foolishly believed in a quack doctor. Wong and Chow decide to give Spareribs another chance and he offers to be an informer.
