This is one of the very few films with dancer and leading lady La Jana in a starring role before she died very young from pneumonia. Her sexy costumes and dances are always worth a look. Otherwise this is a reasonably well paced, but not overly convincing mix of love story, crime story and a bit of a musical with none of these three being sufficiently developed. The story? A man finds a big diamond and gives it as an engagement gift to the dancer Concha though the diamond belongs to the landowner (Gustav Diessl) on whose territory it was found and his men immediately reclaim it. Diessl wants to present the diamond in Europe, but Concha isn't likely to give up, manages to get the job as mannequin who presents the diamond the first time and indeed at this event the diamond disappears.

As Jack is in the middle of divorce proceedings against his wife Renate, his lawyer and best friend Richard doesn't like the idea of a female being in his vicinity. Then Jack's heiress Frieda comes to visit, and when she finds Anny in Jack's house, she mistakes her for his wife - and finds her extremely charming. When the aunt's parrot dies, the relatives believe that the aunt has died and rush to claim the inheritance. Anny emerges victorious from all this.

Since all his personal documents were in it, he not only looses his money but also his identity. The thief turns out to be a cunning con man, who uses the papers for his criminal schemes. Soon enough, a warrant is issued, and eventually both men – the thief and the innocent guy – are arrested. But since all the red tape of the government causes even more confusion, the odyssey of the victim searching for his lost identity has just started.
