When We Were Kings (1996)
It's 1974. Muhammad Ali is 32 and thought by many to be past his prime. George Foreman is ten years younger and the heavyweight champion of the world. Promoter Don King wants to make a name for himself and offers both fighters five million dollars apiece to fight one another, and when they accept, King has only to come up with the money. He finds a willing backer in Mobutu Sese Suko, the dictator of Zaire, and the "Rumble in the Jungle" is set, including a musical festival featuring some of America's top black performers, like James Brown and B.B. King.

Give My Poor Heart Ease (1975)
In his warm snapshot of the Mississippi Delta, folklorist and filmmaker William Ferris sits down with music legend B.B. King and other denizens of the deep south to talk about the blues. Interviewing local musicians ranging from inmates at Parchman Prison to a virtuoso guitar-playing barber, Ferris finds the genre cannot be pinned down to a single definition or origin. The blues permeates the territory as an infectious feeling, heard in musical notes thrummed from impromptu instruments like broomsticks and axes, in addition to guitars.

BB King Sweet 16 (2002)
BB King live in Africa 1974 In 1974, B.B. King brought the blues back to Africa. An audience of 80,000 came to Kinshasha for a three day music festival of America's Black and Latin legends for a "Rumble in the Jungle" Ali vs. Foreman in the fight of the century. The very air sizzled with excitement. Then B.B. filled the night with his raw power, searing energy, and heart-stopping emotion. This inspiring classic concert, shot by Academy Award winner Leon Gast (When We Were Kings), is by far one of B.B. King's greatest performances. Watch B.B. and Lucille burn up the stage. If you look closely you can see Ali in the audience of the show. Now this classic footage is available on DVD and an unforgettable night of music is lived again. George Carlin: The Real George Carlin (1973)
Carlin recorded his only network special, The Real George Carlin, in 1973. Featuring bits about growing up in New York, the material is neither profane nor squeaky clean – but has a slice of life element obviously lacking in the cuddly Carlin of the '60s. There’s a gold star moment of longhaired George mocking a cardboard cutout of the suit and tie version, and so take-em-or-leave-them musical appearances by BB King and Kris Kristofferson. Certainly, worth a modern glance.
