Having inherited a hotel, two brothers have very different ideas as to how to re-float it as a profitable venture. The one wants to turn it into a love hotel with pretty girls from Thailand so that the customers will be able to save themselves the fare to Bangkok. The other one has in mind an institute for the moral edification of the young. In both cases the hotel would be a meeting place, though of very different characters.

Marlene Roedern is a student at the Salzburg Mozarteum, as is her boyfriend, Hans Hellmer, a promising conductor. Strothoff, a government cultural representative, engages Hans to conduct at Hamburg. While in Salzburg, Strothoff meets Marlene, who works as a tourist guide in order to pay her tuition fees. He hires her for an all-night tour of the city. She becomes infatuated with him and he with her. Hans is not happy about this.

Bank director Ernst Rose, owner of the Hamburg bank Traven & Co., is asked to go to the airport earlier than expected to pick up his daughter Silvia. When he arrives, he realizes too late that he has walked into a trap. He is overpowered by kidnappers and abducted. The gang around Alexander Ford and his men want to rob three and a half million from the bank vault at the weekend. But it can only be opened with four keys, which are in the hands of four so-called key holders. Under the direction of criminal Ford, all those involved become puppets in a game of life and death.

The municipal gasworks are equipped with ultra-modern electronic booking machines. Lothar Krake, a small employee, is working on such a monster and makes a typo. He doesn't dare admit the mistake for fear of losing his position. With the wrong name, he creates a new customer named Alexander Dubronski, for whom over time Krake manufactures a life of unimagined proportions. Krake lets him live with him, gets him an extra gas meter and one day even writes his memoirs. Money rolls in, but Krake is overwhelmed by the inevitable complications. (via 3sat)

Austria, 1950s. Safety engineer Peter Dahle increasingly sees a personal enemy in the construction of the power station and the mountain of Kaprun. To protect his workers, he asks the experienced mountain guide Hans Tribusser for help. An Austrian comedy about a mayor who gets headwind from all sides. The very strict mayor (Karl Skraup) not only rejects the marriage of his son with a Viennese woman, but he also denies 40 kids their intended holiday--paid for by the provincial government--because they are illegitimate children. The entanglements only get bigger when two reporters start writing about it. When the local nurse (Maria Andergast) pretends to be the mayor's illegitimate daughter, his resistance is finally overcome.

Vienna, 1947. Bockerer and his wife Binerl have survived the war, though his butcher's shop was destroyed by bombs. Karl Bockerer opens up a new establishment in the center of the city. Post-war Vienna is divided into four zones in which the Allies run things and ensure that law and order prevails. This is the story of two lovers: Gustl, just returned form a POW camp, and the Russian interpreter Elena. Bockerer becomes the patron of their love. Elena's father was executed by Stalin, and the only way she can escape a similar fate is to marry an Austrian. Bockerer "buys" a husband for Elena and, full of tricks as ever, he succeeds in pulling the wool over the Russian occupier's eyes.
