After serving prison time for a juvenile offense, Freddo gathers his old buddies Libano and Dandi and embarks on a crime spree that makes the trio the most powerful gangsters in Rome. Elia plays soccer on the beach and on the dirt fields of a remote village in Sicily, where one day Michele, a talent scout for Serie A, arrives. His target should be some boys from the local soccer school who are shown and recommended to him through more or less legitimate means, but his attention is immediately captured by the innate skill of 18-year-old Elia, who has the mind of a 12-year-old. It is the summer of 2006 when the two meet; Italian soccer is on one hand shaken by the Moggi scandal, and on the other hand exalted by the victory at the World Cup in Germany. The boy’s life could be ready for a change, but so could Michele’s, who despite his professional appearance, is not doing very well.

Michael Woods stars as Tony Giordani, a narcotics agent who learns that his wife has been murdered while he is recuperating from an attack by a mysterious stranger. His boss thinks it's a Mafia vendetta, but Tony follows the clues to an empty house which his wife had been photographing on the day of her murder. There, he finds a burned corpse and several clues leading to the Full Moon Killer, who has been decapitating prostitutes around the city. The owner of the house is an insane countess, whose escape from an asylum leads to yet another murder. Before long, Tony and his partner, Lisa, with whom he is engaged in a passionate affair, find themselves targeted for murder unless they can solve the case.
