Douglas is a foreign entrepreneur, who ventures to Russia in 1885 with dreams of selling a new, experimental steam-driven timber harvester in the wilds of Siberia. Jane is his assistant. USSR, November, 1941. Based on the account by Vasiliy Koroteev this is the story of Panifilov's Twenty-Eight, a group of twenty-eight Red Army soldiers commanded by General Ivan Panfilov, that stopped the advance on Moscow of a column of fifty-four Nazi tanks of the 11th Panzer Division for several days. Though lightly armed they fight tirelessly and defiantly, with uncommon bravery and unwavering dedication, to protect Moscow and their Motherland.

Nina considers her life as a series of failures. It's like a magnet that attracts trouble. And the fact that neighbors on the communal shamelessly "survive" her, and then her first lay off at the reduction in school, and even an unfulfilled personal life - in everything, Nina blames only her unhappiness. Her friend Masha tries to prove to her that the problem is in Nina herself. She does not know how to stand up for herself and allows others to use her trustfulness. Temporarily, Nina arranges an interpreter for one of the successful companies. There she gets acquainted with the director of the company Roman, who begins to look after her. But Nina does not even realize that once again becomes a "bargaining chip" in someone else's game.
