This is the story of three characters (brothers Tomek and Jacek and their neighbor Magda), each of them is in their own way lonely and alienated. The title character makes herself secluded. Tomek's alienation results from his neurological disease, and Jacek contacts the world mainly via the Internet. This is also a film about love. Love of one brother to the other and of one alienated human being to the other. All together it creates a very universal picture with a Polish entourage.

A big shot prosecutor Teodor Szacki divorces his wife and leaves Warsaw to “start a new life” in picturesque town in southeast Poland Sandomierz. After a short while he is called in to investigate a strange and mysterious murder case. Alienated in provincial reality he struggles to find a killer, when he stumbles upon more victims. While the investigation continues he realizes that all murders are connected to alleged historical Jewish ritual killings. Those murders prompt a wave of antiSemitic hysteria in the town. The life of Jan Himilsbach (1931-1988) - stonemason, docker, sailor, actor, screenwriter and writer - is a collection of anecdotes on the one hand, and a string of overwhelming events on the other. As a juvenile shoemaker he was sent to a reformatory, as a railroad thief - to prison, and as a laborer - to a quarry in the God's Gift mine. The film uses interviews with Jan Himilsbach, excerpts from films featuring him, the song "Happiness, Where Are You," for which he wrote the lyrics, and autobiographical novellas set in Minsk Mazowiecki.
