The near future. Every night the media show new reports about war and terror which constantly loom like a dark cloud over the nation. To protect the citizens from possible air attacks the GNOSIS Corporation has developed a personal bomb shelter for everyone - the new BS-2016. While nearly every household in the city has one installed already, 12 year old Alex is still begging his dad to finally buy one so he can feel safe. Simon is a notoriously suspicious control freak, Lea is more the unconventional type. He has turned his obsession into a profession and works in the security department of a Stuttgart-based food company; ever since he had the employees' access cards fitted with tracking chips, his colleagues have seen him as nothing more than the "Stasi bridge man". Lea dropped out of her degree in food chemistry, is currently working in the company canteen and dreams of driving around in a food truck. She is currently using the old Mercedes bus, a former fire engine that now bears the lettering "Brand Herd", as her accommodation. Two such opposites would never cross paths in real life. Ursula, the bride's mother and her sister Hilde are late. They are climbing the staircase of the town hall to reach the rooms where the wedding ceremony will take place. Earlier, Ursula had stolen the wedding rings as she didn’t trust anyone else to keep them safe, and because she wanted to ensure that her daughter's wedding would be perfect. On the town hall's steps Ursula demonstratively puts both rings on her ring finger while she tries to convince her skeptical sister that the bride and groom are a match made in heaven. Suddenly, the rings are stuck on Ursula’s finger and the panicking best man, Walter, rushes out of the ceremony, followed by his wife, Claire. Walter is desperately searching for the rings. A conflict arises in which insults and animosities between all parties escalate - chaos is inevitable.
