Mr. Ondřej longs for a bride, but he doesn't like any of them. When he discovers a picture of a girl at the market from the painter Matěj, he is literally enchanted at first sight. He therefore takes off his gentleman's coat and intends to find the girl at all costs. However, Matěj leads Mr. Ondřej by the nose. The desired girl in the picture is Rozárka, his own daughter, and he is not sure of the strength of Ondřej's feelings. Before the fairy tale reaches a happy ending and a wedding, the young man must undergo many trials.

Building themes, however modified, permeated the nationalised cinema throughout its existence. This time, director Július Matula has focused on a young engineer who, with high hopes, accepts a position in a famous agricultural cooperative. However, he soon discovers that behind the proclaimed phrases there is in fact hypocrisy and protectionism. The authors criticise the fact that incompetence is often covered up, that shortcomings end up being cleverly camouflaged, that the social mood favours the mediocre and the adaptable. The hauers present a statement that is courageous, so to speak, within the limits of the law, and call for increased work consciousness.

The Czech film Svítalo All Night was made to commemorate the 35th anniversary of the liberation of Czechoslovakia by the Soviet Army and is dedicated to all those who fought and gave their lives in Prague in the May Uprising of 1945. Behind the historical events, the creators see mainly their simple, unassuming participants. Thus, we are presented with a number of apt portraits, whether it is the central hero Dr. Soukup and nurse Daniela on the side of the fighting Czechs, or a captain and a simple private in a Red Army unit coming to the aid of the fighting Prague, or an old, war-weary German major, who only realises the senselessness of the war at the sight of a fanatical, cynical lieutenant for whom Nazi ideology represents the meaning of life.

A tediously moralistic comedy, it picks up with all seriousness the morality of a socialist man who has broken forever with petty bourgeois ideas. The story begins at the airport and on an international express train, which is being carried by a German citizen, Otto Lang. The conductor and his girlfriend are solving the problem of living together, and it seems that the conductor has come into a lot of money. In the evening, a fight breaks out between two young men in a nearby pub. The next day, the body of one of them is found near the track. However, the investigators come across another body in the forest, this time that of an unknown man. They try to find out his identity and the relationship between the dead. They start questioning the people who were on duty on the express train that night. They also come across several hotel scammers. Then another clue appears – heroin found on another German citizen. With each new fact, the search seems more difficult...

In an unusual, apolitical approach, director Jaromil Jires has fashioned a standard drama that features an older lawyer with failing health who goes to practice in the countryside. His series of odd court cases reveals more about the human condition than about law. In one of these litigations a wayward nephew has cheated his elderly aunt out of her savings. In court, the nephew insists the money was a gift, but his aunt explains she only gave him the money as a loan. Although the lawyer technically wins the case, everything of value seems lost in the meantime. His services are paid for in rabbits because the aunt has no currency, and in the end, the nephew cons his aunt into parting with her savings anyway. Other cases expose similar types of petty corruption.

A young doctor from Bulovka finds him on the street and admits him to the hospital. Pushkin's tragic duel, which ended his life prematurely, is portrayed in connection with the creation of his short story "The Dirty Shot", while Casanova's story is conceived in a rather ironic and humorous way. The point is that the famous seducer never actually seduced, on the contrary, all his life he was in a constant battle with female seductions.
