To evade the police from interrogations, the two innocent witnesses wiped away their fingerprints and left a note that stated that the crimes were committed by "The Black Rose," who is known to be a fictional hero in a 1965 movie. However, a recovered fingerprint caused Kuen to be the prime suspect, and the apprentices of the Black Rose, apparently a real hero whose legacy was portrayed in the 1965 movie, attempt to seek the truth in the matter by confronting Butterfly.

Wong Boon-kap has recently returned from his studies abroad. Following the orders of his father Tai-ming, Boon-kap goes undercover as a mechanic apprentice in the father's factory to spy on their staff while keeping an eye out for talents. The boot-licking the factory manager Fung Hon-wing and his secretary Cheung Pat-fu respectively enlist their goddaughter Lam Hap-ping and niece Cheung Yuk-lin to join the ranks of the female workers to unveil the identity of the young boss. Ho Chui-wan lands a job at the factory through Lam's connection. Ho's disapproval of the practice of fawning and sycophancy rampant in the factory gains Boon-kap's respect which develops into romance. Tai-ming shatters the heated rumour that the young and promising Hung Yuet-keung is the young boss by announcing the wedding of his son, Boon-kap, to Ho to the huge disappointment of Fung and Cheung.

Hong Kong was quickly becoming industrialised in the 1960s. The market was hungry for female labourers with a grasp of crafting skills. In addition to being wives and mothers, many women entered the labour market at that time. This ‘streamlined comedy' (as it was advertised) is called Three Love Affairs, but the main action is centred on the lovers played by Ting Ying and Cheung Yee. In order to make themselves more appealing, the factory girl pretends to be the daughter of a successful businessman, while the chauffeur pretends to be from a wealthy family. Their relationship is fraught with worry and anxiety, because they are confused about their own identities, and have not yet come to terms with themselves and their lives. With the support of the Manufacturers' Association, the film was shot on location at an actual factory, evidencing a prosperous period in Hong Kong's industrial history.

Banker Fung Yan-tsang is a seasoned criminal in fraudulent activities. The righteous cat burglar Ham Siu-fo has issued a deadline for Fung to return the scammed money. Despite the obstacles put up by Fung's allies Chow Wai-pak and his stepwife Julie, Ham still manages to reclaim the money which is accordingly returned to the customers. In the process, Ham is reunited with her long-lost twin sister Katherine, Chow's daughter. She thwarts the scam marriage set up by Fung for Katherine and his idle son, using the servant Chu Yat-keung as bait, and exposes Fung's illicit affair with Julie.
