What led a former top scientist to rob a bank and hold a dozen hostages? Czech Television's crime thriller based on Martin Goffa's novel "The Little Girl" is squeezed into two environments - the interior of a robbed bank with hostages and the interior of a crisis management car, from where the police communicate with the mysterious attacker and try, like him, to play for time and find out more about him. The flashbacks also tell the story of the attacker's daughter Karin from the recent past, gradually revealing a connection with what is happening in the current storyline.

Captain Vašátko of the criminal police and Horác, a painter, bohemian, and amateur detective, are searching for the murderer of Daniela Jásková, an emancipated young woman who excelled at her job and also excelled at changing lovers. When she is found strangled in her apartment, Vašátko's team begins an investigation. They also focus on the victim's sister, Alena Kášová, who did not like Daniela very much and resented her ability to win over every man. Suspicion also falls on Alena's ex-husband, the sculptor Káš, whom Horác has known since his studies at the academy.

The love story of students Jana and Tomáš begins in Prague just after the establishment of the First Republic. A tale of a boy whose desire to correct human vices was stronger than the power of hell itself. Apolena, a herbalist, finds an abandoned newborn baby in a rye field. She names him Rye and raises him into a brave young man. Rye is recruited into the king's army and the king's evil advisor, Prince Neklan, orders him to collect taxes from his subjects. Rye learns first-hand how evil and unjust power can be and rebels against it. His sense of justice, joy of life and cleverness charm even Princess Adelka, but he also catches the eye of the devil Philistine, who would like to bring him to hell. So she disguises herself as the beautiful Marquise and tries to lure him to the benefits of evil: he will be rich and famous. But Rye cannot be lured. And so, in addition to Neklan, who is also trying to win Adelka, he must also fight against the power of hell itself.

Theater in film: Maryša by Jan Mikulášek, directed by Viktor Tauš, is a thoroughly contemporary cinematic confession of a woman who has decided not to succumb to the pressure of those around her and, if she cannot fulfill her love, would rather cause death and self-destruction.
