Rena, a wealthy Athenian woman, arrives to disrupt the tranquility of a village, where she settles with her aunt and her younger brother, Louli. Loulis, who suffers from heart failure, needs peace and fresh air. The young village doctor, Mr. Kandis, is charmed by Rena, who despises him because of his origins, and so the doctor is disappointed.
