Ford v Ferrari (2019)

American car designer Carroll Shelby and the British-born driver Ken Miles work together to battle corporate interference, the laws of physics, and their own personal demons to build a revolutionary race car for Ford Motor Company and take on the dominating race cars of Enzo Ferrari at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in France in 1966.

Bale's Dedication: Christian Bale, known for his method acting, lost a significant amount of weight to portray Ken Miles. He also spent considerable time with Peter Miles, Ken's son, to understand his father better.
Real Racing, Real Risks: The filmmakers prioritized visceral, in-car shots to immerse the audience in the racing experience. This involved custom-built vehicles and rigs to capture the intensity of wheel-to-wheel racing.
From Script to Screen: The project was in development for years, initially with Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt attached under the title Go Like Hell. James Mangold eventually took over, drawn to the underdog story and relatable themes.
California Dreamin': Although the film centers on the 24 Hours of Le Mans in France, much of the racing action was filmed in sunny California. A reconstruction of the pit lane was built on an LA regional airfield.
Shelby's Real Win: Carroll Shelby, played by Matt Damon, was indeed a Le Mans winner himself. He won the race in 1959, co-driving an Aston Martin DBR1.
